Stabbed in the gut....what do ya do?

Hey all! Been awhile! Life as a busy single parent has kept me away from writing for a long time...
I hope to get back to it on a regular basis! It is therapy for me...when days are bad or when they are good, it's always good to think about your day...and count your blessings...
However, lately the past few weeks have had more "downs" than "ups"....
Those of you who have more than one child...ever felt like you are expected to be in two or more places at once? Well, that's been my life for the past two weeks! When you can't be there for every moment of your child's ball game, or see them score a goal...they sure let you about their disappointment...That's why this post is titled "Stabbed in the Gut". Both of my children play ball...this spring, their ball schedule has both of them playing at the same time. Which son do I watch? How do I divide up the time so that each one gets treated fairly?
Well...I've realized...it doesn't matter how you divide up the time...it doesn't matter how fair you try to be...When you are expected to be in two places at once, it is impossible. You are always going to miss something. Last week, I missed my older son shooting a goal...Today I missed my younger son making the best defensive play of the game, for which he earned an award! I just can't win!

Oh well...I guess I have to remember that they are having fun and learning about Christ at the same time! With every blessing, there is always sacrifice! Have a good night all! And thanks for reading my blog!

Sincerely,
Country Girl

There's light at the end of the tunnel...

Hello, all!
After letting myself go totally crazy with that last post, I just wanted to say that---even when things look bad, I have to remember that God is still in control. That saying just spoke to my heart even as I was clicking on "publish post" for those last comments. I know that I am where I am supposed to be today...taking care of my sick son. Right now he is resting in bed and watching cartoons. So I find myself with a few precious moments of quiet time. I have to always remind myself that even when a day seems to start off totally wrong, and look like it's going to be "gloomy" the entire day, that God, in his mighty way, never puts more on us than we can bare. I don't know what I will face when I return to work, but whatever comes, I will get through it because of His grace!

Once again, thanks for listening! Have a good day, all!

Ever had a frustrating day?...Tell me about it!

This day has started off as one of the most frustrating days ever! Have you ever been totally misunderstood by your boss? Well, that happened to me first thing this morning. As a result I am facing possible disciplinary action. I've worked for the same company for over 15 years, and have not ever been in this situation before!
My 8 year began throwing up 30 minutes before I was supposed to report for work. I only live 1 mile from my workplace. So after calling in, like I thought I was supposed to (and following the new procedure she put in place a few weeks ago), she is now insinuating that I planned to be out! And has written a note to the entire staff warning them that if you plan to be out and do not follow procedure, you will face a write up. How can you predict when your child is going to be sick? Oh-- I get it--I stuck my finger down his throat this morning and made him throw up so I wouldn't have to go to work today! How crazy is that? This woman has the reputation for doing and saying things totally out of line, and I don't know if I can say anything nice to her when returning to work!
I am a mom that always puts the welfare of my children first----even if it means a hardship for me. If I have to stay from work to care for one of them, then isn't that what sick days are for?
She can be totally unreasonable!

Has anyone out there ever had a similar experience? Tell me about! Let's vent together!
Thanks for listening!

The First Day of Kindergarten...from a Five year old

I have to post this...it's sooo cute! But I'm not totally objective! My friends will tell you that I have a very precocious 5 year old! He is on the go from the time he gets up until the time he falls asleep at night!
Anyway, he began kindergarten this past week...it was quite a day! Being a schoolteacher myself, I wanted everything to be perfect for him! However, as every parent knows, when you have children, the best made plans often go awry! The day went by in a blur...Not many can say that they get to spend their child's first day of kindergarten with them! I can, because I teach at the school that my children attend.
Try as I might, I wanted my son to be the shining star of the day! He, on the other hand, had his own set of ideas! Overall, the day was good. A few times he had to be reminded to follow the rules, be nice to his friends, and to calm down...boys will be boys, so they say!
At the end of the day, one of the teachers asked him how his first day of kindergarten had been. He replied, "Well...I didn't have to go to the principal's office!" Ha! Ha! Now isn't that what every parent wants to hear? I'd say that was a pretty good day! --lol HAVE A GOOD NIGHT EVERYONE! GOD BLESS! AND HAVE A GREAT START TO YOUR WORK WEEK!

Life as a single parent...

Hello, again!
Since I am just beginning this adventure of writing in a blog, I trust anyone reading this will be patient with the blunders of a newcomer! I'm sure there are plenty of other interesting blogs out there! I hope to become a better writer with the more posts I make!

What has happened this weekend? Well, I am at the end of a "mommy weekend", as I like to call them...I often wonder what other single parents do with their time while their children are at the other parent's house? This weekend I've simply "vegged out"...watched movies, spent time with my parents, read a good book, and played with my dogs. Not much for a country girl, huh? I really have to get out more! Told ya there was more interesting stuff out there to read!

Welcome!

Hello! Welcome to my new blog! Some say I am very opinionated. I hope you like what you read. Mostly, this blog will be opinions about current - i.e. education, faith, parenthood, daily life, etc...Some things will be serious, others funny I hope. Whatever my message, I hope it blesses you or speaks to you in some way! Thanks for taking a few minutes to check out my page!
